Artist Spotlight Tour: Mayumi Amada
October 11 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm

Overview
Join Mayumi Amada a Minneapolis-based multimedia artist, for a guided tour of her work in Extraordinary Elsewhere. Amada’s installations explore impermanence, ancestry, and the cycle of life, drawing on her Japanese cultural heritage, Zen philosophy, and traditional techniques handed down through generations of women. Her work Vanity’s Doily (2006) uses video, humor, and craft to question vanity and the transient flow of beauty, while also honoring the threads that connect us through time. In this Artist Spotlight Tour, Amada will share insights into her practice and invite visitors to reflect on their own connections to memory, mortality, and continuity. Free with admission; no reservations required.
Mayumi Amada’s work is featured in the group exhibition Extraordinary Elsewhere, on view in the Main Gallery until February 1st, 2026.
