We welcome free and fee-based events that are open to the public and hosted by or with Houston, Fillmore, Mower, Winona or Olmsted county organizations. A wide variety of activities is encouraged — music, learning events and tours, theater, art, hobby and heritage activities, church dinners, food and cooking, job fairs, community fundraising, sport, outdoor activities, seasonal happenings and festivals.
You may also promote open houses, retail events, chef’s dinners, holiday meals, community-wide sales events and multi-vendor markets if they are open to the public and include entertainment, music, tastings, guest appearances, signings or demonstrations.
Non-eligible events include league sport games, political events and rallies, business networking or training events, public hearings, religious services, retail discounts or happy hours. Routine school district and local government events are too numerous to include in this calendar, but links to their calendars are found on this Root River Current page.
Submissions are reviewed and approved at the discretion of Root River Current every Monday (holidays and office closures excluded). We reserve the right to edit submitted entries and to accept or reject a submitted item for any reason.
